Notorious Brothel Keeper Cynthia Payne ran a hugely successful brothel in Streatham, South London, near to where Conrad Armstrong grew up. During Police Raids in the 70s & 80s the brothel made headlines as the haunt of many prominent political, religious and financial figures of the time. Punters could swap luncheon vouchers to dress in lingerie and be spanked by young women amongst other services. Madame Payne went on to become politically active in the ongoing struggle to fight for sex workers rights and decriminalisation certain areas of the sex industry.
